I love a good cleanse, but I know not everyone has the time to set aside for a full on detox, so here are some simple tips to boost your body's filtration system every single day.
1. LIMIT JUNK FOODS AND DRINKS
Cut out acid forming foods and drinks, like animal products, processed foods, excess caffeine and alcohol (or even better, cut these out completely). These foods and drinks increase inflammation and tax the liver - your body's natural filter.
2. LEMON WATER IN THE MORNING
Upon waking the first thing you can drink is a liter of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon juice (I like to use a half of an organic lemon to one liter of water). Not only does this start you out with a little boost of vitamin C, it strengthens your immune system, gives your body electrolytes, calcium, and magnesium. These are super helpful after a long night with little to no fluid intake. It's a great and refreshing way to rehydrate and start your day off right.
3. GREENS, GREENS, AND MORE GREENS!
If you haven't seen my video "7 REASONS TO EAT MORE VEGGIES + SAMPLE MEALS TO GET THEM IN" do check it out for some information and inspiration to get in more veggies, with an emphasis on leafy greens:
Greens reduce inflammation, are high in antioxidants that fight disease such as heart disease, eye problems, diabetes, cancer and so much more! Think about getting in 6 servings of greens and veggies per day. It's easy to do by adding in a little at every meal. Whether you are juicing, making a smoothie, eating a large salad, steaming, or making a huge pot of veggie stew - just get them in, and often! Vegetables are super powerful and one of the best ways to prevent, reverse, and completely heal your aliments.
4. DRY BRUSHING
I have been a huge advocate of dry brushing for MANY years. It is such a simple way to detox one of the largest organs in your body - your skin! I have been dry brushing for almost ten years and have seen a dramatic change in the quality of my skin tone. I use a Tampico Natural Bristle skin brush and let me tell you, removing the top layer of dead skin and stimulating the circulation of blood feeding the skin are essential for maintaining youthful, glowing and supple skin! Dry skin brushing is one of the best ways to cleanse the skin without removing the protective mantle of acid and oils. It gently and effectively removes the top layer of dead skin cells with its build-up of dirt and acid, and deeply cleanses the pores. Do this 5 minute ritual every morning before hopping in the shower, and you will definitely feel softer skin ASAP and may even see a reduction in cellulite! Win win :)

5. SWEAT IT OUT
This one is a no brainer, but just get out there and do some form of exercise that you love. A great and gentle way to detox is by doing yoga or pilates. Breathing oxygen into muscles, twisting poses, and engaging the mind body breath are great ways to relieve stress, aid digestion, and improve elimination.
6. SOAK IN THE TUB
This detox tip is great because it is a warm bath that also helps cleanse the body…super relaxing, if I do say so myself. I attribute credit of this tip to my long time Vocal Coach. To whip up the concoction, add 1 cup of Epsom Salt, 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, and 1/3 cup Baking Soda to a bath and soak all the way up to your neck for as long as you want! The epsom salt contains magnesium, which when absorbed into the skin can help with the detoxification process, and stimulate the colon prompting the body to eliminate backed up waste. The baking soda and ACV help if you are feeling a bit under the weather, and are great skin soothers. This will also help you relax before bedtime and have restful sleep.
Bonus: if you are a singer, this will help if you been having a long period of rehearsal or performance and your voice needs some extra TLC.
So there you have it, 6 easy ways to incorporate daily detox tips into your day morning till evening. I hope you try these out and start to feel the cleansing benefits today :) As always you can contact me with any questions or comments. Thanks for stopping by xx
